National Assembly of Tajikistan and the Senate of the Parliament Kazakhstan Hold Talks in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, 13.05.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Today in Dushanbe, the delegation of the National Assembly of Tajikistan and the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan headed by Rustam Emomali and Maulen Ashimbayev held negotiations, which focused on a set of issues of partnership and inter-parliamentary relations.
The negotiations in detail focused on the current state of inter-parliamentary relations and prospects for developing cooperation relations with the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan as part of the holding of the first meeting of the Permanent Commission on Cooperation between the National Assembly and the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.
The parties exchanged views on the development and expansion of relations between the two countries in trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, military and technical areas.
It was noted that the volume of trade between the two countries in 2021 increased by 30 percent and amounted to $1.1 billion.
On this basis, Rustam Emomali drew the attention of his colleague to the expansion of cooperation in the investment sectors, the implementation of projects in the free economic zones of Tajikistan and the promotion of timely implementation of the decisions of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
Regarding the topic of ensuring regional security, especially the difficult situation in Afghanistan, it was considered necessary to continue effective cooperation between the countries in the military-technical sector.
It was emphasized that the Tajik side attaches particular importance to cooperation with the Parliament of Kazakhstan within the framework of multilateral formats, in particular the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, as well as the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and advocates for their strengthening.
It was expressed confidence that the official visit of Ashimbayev and today’s negotiations will make a worthy contribution to strengthening and expanding friendly and mutually beneficial relations between the two countries.
Following an extended negotiations, Rustam Emomali and Maulen Ashimbayev held tet-a-tet meeting.
The meeting focused on the state and prospects of friendly relations between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan in priority areas, as well as inter-parliamentary relations.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the steady development and expansion of the complex of friendship relations, strategic partnership and inter-parliamentary cooperation between Tajikistan and Kazakhstan.
An exchange of views took place on the activities of the upper houses of the parliaments of the two countries in the regional and international format.
Issues of cooperation in the areas of trade, economy, education, culture, military security were named as one of the important topics of the meeting.
The parties highlighted the fruitful activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and the holding of the first meeting of the Permanent Commission on Cooperation between the National Assembly and the Senate of the Parliament.
