Results of the Second Dushanbe Water Conference Presented at the UN Headquarters

DUSHANBE, 14.07.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – On July 13, at the UN Headquarters, on the margins of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, a special event on the SDG-6 was held at the initiative of the UN-Water in collaboration with the delegations of Tajikistan and the Netherlands.
The event was inaugurated by the UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Liu Zhenming, the Chairman of UN-Water, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development Gilbert Hongbo and President-elect of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly Csaba Kőrösi.
The Special Envoy of the President of Tajikistan on Water and Climatic Affairs Sulton Rahimzoda, while introducing the results of the Second Dushanbe Water Conference, highlighted the importance and contribution of this event in preparation for the UN Water Conference in 2023 (New York).
The representatives of the permanent missions of Senegal, Japan, Portugal, Egypt, Switzerland, Slovenia and Finland, the Parliamentary Secretary General of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection Bettina Hoffmann and the Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Petteri Taalas spoke at the event and informed the participants about important regional and international preparation meetings in the lead up to the UN Water Conference.
