Tajikistan Assesses the Level and Content of Relations with UNESCO

DUSHANBE, 09.12.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday in Paris on the sidelines of the UN-Water Summit on Groundwater, which was held in UNESCO Headquarters, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the National Commission for UNESCO Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the Director-General of UNESCO Audrey Azoulay.
Muhriddin highly appreciated the level and content of the multifaceted relations of Tajikistan with UNESCO over the past period of leadership of Azoulay in the Organization.
He noted that last week during the 17th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee on Intangible Cultural Heritage of UNESCO held in Rabat, two joint nominations of Tajikistan – “Sericulture and traditional production of silk for weaving” and “Telling tradition of Khoja Nasriddin Afandi Anecdotes” were officially inscribed to the World Cultural Heritage List, which is an important achievement for the protection and popularization of the heritage of ancestors and present folk art, the rich and ancient culture of the Tajik people in the international arena.
