Permanent Mission of Tajikistan to UN Holds Informal Ambassadorial Meeting of the Group of Friends

DUSHANBE, 10.09.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – On September 8, the Permanent Mission of Tajikistan in collaboration with the members of the Steering Committee of the Group of Friends of Water organized the next informal ambassadorial meeting.
The meeting focused on the themes of the interactive dialogue of the Mid-Term Review Conference of the International Decade of Action «Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028,» which will be held in New York in March 2023.
At this event, Tajikistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN Jonibek Hikmat, Permanent Representative of the Netherlands Yoka Brandt, Under-Secretary General of the UN for Economic and Social Affairs Li Junhua, as well as the Secretary General of the 2023 Conference and the President-elect of the 77th UN General Assembly Chaba Koroshi participated as panelists and informed the member states on the updates about the preparations for the UN 2023 Water Conference and highlighted the themes of the interactive conference dialogue proposed by the co-hosts.
Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the UN Osama Abdulkhaleq also participated as a panelist and talked about the preparations for the 27th UN conference on climate change.
The Water Action Agenda and its importance for the UN 2023 Water Conference were likewise the focus of the meeting.
