DUSHANBE, 08.07.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – On July 8, 2023, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Lleader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, took part in the celebration of Tirgon, apricot and honey festivals in Khujand city.

The presentation of agricultural goods, products of industrial enterprises, handicrafts, various national dishes, many types of bread products, the process of preparation of various products from apricots and folk performances turned the event into a true celebration of joy and happiness and gratitude for the peaceful atmosphere of the Motherland and the abundance of agricultural crops.

In the corners of the exhibition, melons, apricots, cereals and other types of agricultural products were presented in various forms and patterns.

Tirgon is a summer holiday of the Tajik nation, and its main goal is to provide crops with water, harvest abundantly, help each other, lay the foundation for the next harvest, and increase the efficiency of the land.

Farmers of the cities and districts of Sughd Province displayed different types of apricots in accordance with national traditions, customs and characteristics of apricot cultivation in fresh and dry forms.

Currently, the total area of apricot orchards in Sughd Province is 50,900 hectares, of which 34,389 hectares are productive.

Isfara, Konibodom, Asht, Kuhistoni Mastchoh, Bobojon Ghafurov and Ainy are among the main apricot-growing cities and districts in Sughd Province.

Based on the analysis, the production of more than 100,000 tons of apricots in Sughd Province is expected in 2023, which will be twice as much as in 2022.

The farmers expressed their gratitude to the Honorable Head of State Emomali Rahmon for the continuous support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to the activities of producers of material goods.
