Tajikistan’s population surpasses 10.6 million, grows 2% in 2024

DUSHANBE, 24.08.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – The population of Tajikistan as of July 1, 2025 exceeded 10.6 million people, reports the Agency for Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the Agency, the country’s population as of July 1, 2025, taking into account birth rates, mortality rates, and migration, reached to 10, 6 million.
In the first 6 months of this year, the population of Tajikistan increased by 2.1%. The natural population growth in January June compared to the same period in 2024 was 2%, or 98.9 thousand people (18.8 people per 1000 people).
It is also noted that in the first half of this year, civil registry offices (ZAGS) registered 116,200 newborns and 17,2 thousand deaths, including 0.8 thousand children under the age of one.
According to preliminary estimates, the total fertility rate and the total mortality rate were 22.1 and 3.3 per 1,000 people, respectively.
In the first half of 2025, the number of registered births in the republic increased by 2.1% compared to the same period in 2024.
