DUSHANBE, July 23, 2026 (NIAT Khovar) – Meetings of the Presidential Commission and the Executive Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation (World Gymnastics) began in Dushanbe on July 20 and will continue until July 25.

According to the Gymnastics Federation of the Republic of Tajikistan, the meetings are attended by President of the International Gymnastics Federation Morinari Watanabe, President of the Asian Gymnastics Union Abdulrahman Al-Shathri, vice-presidents, the Secretary General, members of the Presidential Commission and Executive Committee, as well as heads of national gymnastics federations and international experts.

The agenda includes key issues related to the further development of gymnastics, improvement of the international federation’s governance system, preparations for major international competitions, development of all gymnastics disciplines, and expansion of international cooperation.

It was noted that Tajikistan is hosting the meetings of the Presidential Commission and the Executive Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation for the first time. This is regarded as a sign of the high confidence of the international sports community and recognition of the growing role of the Gymnastics Federation of Tajikistan on the global stage.

The programme of the meetings includes discussions on the prospects for the development of gymnastics, visits to sports facilities, and meetings with representatives of the national sports sector. Participants will also consider issues related to athlete and specialist training, strengthening international cooperation, and developing modern sports infrastructure.

Holding these high-level meetings in Dushanbe is expected to create new opportunities for the development of gymnastics in Tajikistan, facilitate the exchange of international experience, and further strengthen the country’s position in the global sports community.
