DUSHANBE, August 7, 2026 (NIAT Khovar) — The Tajikistan Cricket Federation (TCF) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have signed a landmark cooperation agreement aimed at accelerating the technical and institutional development of cricket in the Republic of Tajikistan. This strategic partnership represents a significant milestone in the history of Tajik cricket and establishes a long-term framework for collaboration in coaching, player development, cricket administration, infrastructure, and high-performance programs.

The agreement reflects the shared commitment of both cricket boards to promote the growth of cricket across Central Asia and to strengthen sporting ties between Tajikistan and Pakistan.

A New Era for Cricket Development in Tajikistan, under the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the Pakistan Cricket Board will provide comprehensive technical assistance to the Tajikistan Cricket Federation in several key areas, including:

• Appointment of internationally qualified Pakistani coaches to work with Tajik national teams;
• Development of elite coaching education programs in accordance with International Cricket Council (ICC) standards;
• Training and certification of umpires, match referees, scorers, and cricket administrators;
• Establishment of a National Cricket Academy in Tajikistan;
• Grassroots cricket development in schools, universities, and local communities;
• Women’s cricket development initiatives;
• High-performance camps for national and youth teams;
• Sports science, strength and conditioning, injury prevention, and player welfare programs;
• Video performance analysis and modern cricket analytics;
• Development of domestic cricket competitions and talent identification systems;
• Exchange programs for players, coaches, and technical officials.

The cooperation will also enable Tajik players to participate in training camps and development programs at Pakistan’s world-renowned cricket academies, where they will gain first-hand experience from some of the finest cricket professionals in the world.

Technical experts from Pakistan will assist the Tajikistan Cricket Federation in improving batting techniques, fast bowling and spin bowling development, wicketkeeping standards, fielding excellence, match strategy, leadership, sports psychology, and fitness management in line with international best practices.

High-Level Meeting in Islamabad, a high-level meeting was held in Islamabad between senior officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Pakistan, Yusuf Sharifzoda.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in cricket, expanding technical partnerships, promoting coach education, developing cricket infrastructure, and creating sustainable pathways for young cricketers in Tajikistan.

Both sides emphasized that cricket serves not only as a sport but also as a powerful instrument of cultural diplomacy, youth engagement, education, and friendship between nations.

PCB officials reaffirmed their full commitment to supporting the Tajikistan Cricket Federation through technical expertise, educational programs, coaching exchanges, and institutional capacity building.

Outstanding Diplomatic Leadership by Ambassador Yusuf Sharifzoda, the remarkable progress achieved in establishing this historic partnership has been made possible largely through the personal leadership and diplomatic initiatives of Ambassador Yusuf Sharifzoda.

Recognizing the enormous potential of cricket as a tool for youth development and international cooperation, Ambassador Sharifzoda has worked tirelessly to build direct institutional links between the Tajikistan Cricket Federation and the Pakistan Cricket Board.

Through a series of strategic meetings with PCB leadership, cricket academies, sports institutions, and private sector partners, the Ambassador successfully facilitated negotiations that resulted in this comprehensive cooperation agreement.

Working Visit to Sialkot – The Global Hub of Cricket Equipment Manufacturing, as part of his working visit, Ambassador Sharifzoda travelled to the city of Sialkot, internationally recognized as one of the world’s leading centers for the manufacturing of cricket equipment.

During meetings with executives of major sports manufacturing companies, discussions focused on establishing long-term cooperation for the supply of ICC-standard cricket equipment to Tajikistan.

The negotiations covered the procurement and future cooperation in the production of:

• Professional cricket bats;
• International-standard cricket balls;
• Protective equipment;
• Training nets and practice facilities;
• Bowling machines;
• Fielding equipment;
• Team uniforms;
• High-performance training accessories;
• Cricket pitch maintenance equipment.

The Ambassador also explored opportunities for customized equipment carrying the official branding of the Tajikistan Cricket Federation and discussed future investment possibilities in sports manufacturing cooperation.

Tajikistan’s Growing Position in International Cricket, Ambassador Sharifzoda highlighted that the Tajikistan Cricket Federation is a recognized member of both the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and the International Cricket Council (ICC).

He stated that this international membership provides Tajikistan with valuable opportunities to participate in official international competitions, benefit from ICC and ACC development programs, receive technical assistance, access educational resources, and strengthen domestic cricket structures.
