DUSHANBE, July 26, 2026 (NIAT Khovar) — Dushanbe will host the Asian Sports Acrobatics Championship for the first time in 2027, following a decision announced during meetings of the Presidential Commission and Executive Committee of the International Gymnastics Federation (World Gymnastics), held in the Tajik capital from July 20 to 25.

The meetings brought together World Gymnastics President Morinari Watanabe, Asian Gymnastics Union President Abdulrahman Al-Shatri, vice presidents, Secretary General, members of the Presidential Commission and Executive Committee, as well as heads of national gymnastics federations and international experts.

Participants discussed key issues related to the further development of gymnastics, improvement of international federation governance, preparations for major competitions, promotion of all gymnastics disciplines and expansion of international cooperation.

The hosting of the meetings in Dushanbe for the first time was described as a sign of growing international recognition of Tajikistan’s gymnastics development and the increasing role of the country’s federation in the global sports community.

During the meetings, a project for the construction of a Gymnastics Center in Dushanbe was also presented. The facility is expected to contribute to the development of gymnastics disciplines and create conditions for hosting international competitions.

The event also included visits to sports facilities and discussions on prospects for the development of gymnastics in Tajikistan. The organization of the meetings in Dushanbe is expected to strengthen international cooperation, facilitate the exchange of experience and further promote the country’s position in the global sports arena.
