Prime Minister of Tajikistan Qohir Rasulzoda and Chief Executive of Afghanistan Dr. Abdullah Abdullah had talks in Dushanbe
DUSHANBE, 21.06.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Qohir Rasulzoda, the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, held today talks with Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, the Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
During the meeting the parties discussed issues related to the current situation and bilateral friendly relations between the two countries. The Prime Minister of the country stated that the Republic of Tajikistan is always a supporter of strengthening of peace and stability, security and tranquility in Afghanistan. The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, in particular Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, regularly implements concrete measures.
Both parties expressed opinion on the expansion of friendly intergovernmental relations between Tajikistan and Afghanistan, as well as finding new ways to achieve these goals.
The Prime Minister of Tajikistan and Chief Executive of Afghanistan also had an exchange of views on the need to strengthen the fight against organized crime, including terrorism, extremism, illicit drug trafficking. It was especially noted the importance of implementing large regional projects in priority areas, including in the economy and industry, transport, energy, education, healthcare and others, that create favorable conditions for strengthening relations between Tajikistan and Afghanistan and improving the economy of both countries.
Qohir Rasulzoda and Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, as part of the meeting, signed a Joint Declaration between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
In addition, Agreement on cooperation in the field of communications and information technology between the Communications Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and a Memorandum on scientific and technical cooperation between the Main Department of Geology under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan were also signed.
Following the top level meetings and talks, which were held in the friendly atmosphere and mutual understanding, there took place a press conference for media representatives with the participation of the Prime Minister of Tajikistan Qohir Rasulzoda and the Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Abdullah Abdullah.
At the press conference, the parties, summing up the results of the official visit of the Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Abdullah Abdullah to the Republic of Tajikistan, the top level meetings and talks and his participation in the International High-Level Conference on the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028, assessed them beneficial for both states.
The parties noted important to strengthen and further expand relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
