Tajik Representative Chairs Monthly Asia-Pacific Group Meeting
DUSHANBE, 19.12.2018. (NIAT Khovar) – The Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the United Nations (UN) Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov, in his capacity as the Chair of the Asia Pacific Group (APG) addressed the meeting of the UN General Assembly in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the 25th anniversary of the Vienna Declaration and Program of Action.
Speaking on behalf of APG, the permanent representative noted that both documents demonstrate the common aspiration and collective will of the international community to make the world a better place, reported the Permanent Mission of Tajikistan to the UN.
Mahmadaminov also emphasized that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights embodies economic, social, cultural, civil and political rights and is based on the premise that different rights can be successfully achieved only in conjunction with one another.
During the course of the meeting, he also briefed the group on the activities of the APG during Tajikistan’s chairmanship. Issues relating to the candidacy of the APG states to various UN agencies were also discussed.
