Ambassador of Tajikistan to Saudi Arabia Meet the OIC Secretary General

DUSHANBE, 06.05.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – On May 4 in Jeddah, the Ambassador of Tajikistan to Saudi Arabia and Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Akram Karimi met with the organization’s Secretary General Yousef Al-Othaimeen.
Al-Othaimeen was informed about the situation in the Tajik and Kyrgyz border areas and the factors which led to the recent events in this region.
Karimi reiterated Tajikistan’s position to resolve all border issues with a neighboring country through negotiations.
He also emphasized Tajikistan’s resolve to use all legal means to protect its national interests and territorial integrity.
Al-Othaimeen welcomed the normalization of the situation in the border areas and the resumption of negotiations between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Al-Othaimeen noted that the OIC takes a neutral position on issues between member states and in case of need the organization will contribute to the peaceful settlement of disputes.
The parties also discussed topical issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the OIC.
