DUSHANBE, 20.10.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The Agency for Hydrometeorology predicts unstable weather in Tajikistan from October 21 through October 22.
Heavy rains are expected in a number of mountainous and foothill areas and snow at an altitude of more than 2000 meters at night. The water level is expected to rise in the basins of Vakhsh, Zarafshon, Kafarnihon, Yakhsu, Kyzylsu (southern) rivers.
Additionally, from October 22 through October 23, daytime temperatures will drop by 7-12 degrees. In some districts of Khatlon, Sughd, regions of republican subordination, and Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, the wind is expected to increase up to 17-22 m/s, and in the southern regions of the republic there will be a dust storm.
In this regard, the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense warns the population living in the foothill and mountainous areas about the first frosts that may damage agricultural lands. Farmers are advised to harvest on time, and cover unripe fruits with plastic wraps, non-woven material or straw.
The committee also advises caution when grazing livestock in mountain pastures.
“While driving in mountainous terrains, individuals must strictly observe the speed limit and a safe distance between cars, since there is a high probability of rockfalls,” the committee warns.
