Muhriddin and Lavrov Discuss Preparations for Putin’s Upcoming Official Visit to Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 06.09.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, at the invitation of the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin paid an official visit to Russia, which was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, reported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
The talks focused on Tajik-Russian relations in the political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian, military and military-technical fields. The counterparts also exchanged views on regional security and cooperation between the two countries within international organizations.
“Muhriddin and Lavrov also discussed the issues of preparations for the upcoming official visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to Tajikistan. In this regard, an agreement was reached to continue coordination between the foreign ministries upon completion of the coordination of the package of bilateral documents under consideration by the parties,” noted the Minestry.
The ministers positively assessed the dynamics of the development of trade and economic relations and considered preparations for the Tajikistan — Russia Investment Forum scheduled to be held on September 15 in Dushanbe.
The talks also extended to humanitarian and migration cooperation.
The Russian side noted their appreciation of the measures taken in Tajikistan to maintain and develop the Russian language and noted Russia’s readiness to provide all possible assistance in holding the Days of Culture of Tajikistan in Russia in October 2022.
They agreed to continue to assist the relevant departments of the two countries in promptly resolving all emerging migration issues and assisting citizens who intend to work in the territory of both countries.
Particular attention was paid to the issues of Tajik-Russian cooperation in the field of security, with an emphasis on the emerging situation in Afghanistan.
Following the talks, the Muhriddin and Lavrov signed the Cooperation Program for 2022-2023.
