Tajikistan and Korea Economic Cooperation Forum Held in Kangwon Province

DUSHANBE, 09.11.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Forum of Economic Cooperation between Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea was held at the Kangwon National University of the Korean Kangwon Province.
The forum was attended by a delegation of Tajikistan, consisting of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Agrarian University, Khatlon region, and Khovar (Deputy Director Kanoatullo Saifulloev).
The forum was organized by the representative office of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan in the Republic of Korea and the Domin Ilbo provincial newspaper.
Tajikistan’s delegation emphasized that the forum is a logical continuation of the development of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea, which is aimed at implementing the instructions of President Emomali Rahmon to attract foreign capital, study best practices in the development of domestic agriculture, and present the possibilities of the country’s agricultural sector abroad.
As part of the forum, memorandums of understanding were signed between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan and the KINTEX company, between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Korean Kangwon Province, as well as between the Tajik Agrarian University and Kangwon National University.
Also, on the sidelines of the forum, Tajikistan’s delegation met with the governor of Kangwon Province.
It should be noted that On October 25th, the 15th Session of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Cooperation Forum «Central Asia — the Republic of Korea» was held in Busan city, which was attended by the delegation of Tajikistan headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin.
During his speech, the head of the Tajik delegation shared the country’s vision of expanding bilateral and multilateral cooperation, strengthening cooperation and sustainable development within this effective format.
Good relations with the Republic of Korea, as well as expanding and strengthening cooperation with the countries of Central Asia were highlighted as an important means of strengthening multilateral relations.
On the sidelines of the Cooperation Forum, five thematic sessions were held in the areas of healthcare, digital cooperation, economic security, tourism, environment and energy in-person and virtual forms.
The meeting participants exchanged views on important issues on the agenda, the development of mutually beneficial cooperation and the implementation of joint projects.
As a result of the meeting, the Joint Statement of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Work Plan of the Secretariat of the Central Asia-Republic of Korea Cooperation Forum for 2023 were adopted.
