Chairman of Dushanbe Rustam Emomali Meets Athletes Participating in the Asian Games

DUSHANBE, 19.09.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Chairman of Dushanbe, President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan Rustam Emomali held a meeting with the Tajik delegation, which will take part in the 19th Asian Games.
Along with the athletes, the meeting was attended by the leadership of the National Olympic Committee, the Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports, sports federations and coaches.
Rustam Emomali noted that sport in today’s conditions of globalization is an important component of the system of cultural values of peoples and nations. The states of the world, through various events, make efforts to present their cultural values and protect their national interests.
It was informed that over the past 6 years, Tajik athletes have taken part in national and international competitions and won 33,538 medals, of which 12,654 are gold. Also, at the level of international competitions, the State flag was raised 6,450 times, and the National anthem was played 2,000 times, which is a source of pride for the Tajik people.
He added that President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon for athletes who receive gold medals at the Hangzhou Asian Games has established the Presidential Award in the amount of 150,000 somoni, silver medals — 100,000 somoni, bronze medals — 50,000 somoni.
In order to support athletes at the 19th Asian Games, a corresponding Decree of the Chairman of Dushanbe was adopted, according to which the holders of gold medals will receive 3-room apartments, silver medals — 2-room apartments and bronze medals — 1-room apartments.
Tajik wrestler Temur Rahimov was elected the flag bearer of the Tajik team at the Asian Games.
Following the event, Rustam Emomali presented the State Flag to Temur Rahimov, and wished the athletes success and sporting achievements.
The Asian Games will be held from September 23 through October 8 in the Chinese city of Hangzhou. It will be attended by athletes from 45 countries of the Asian continent. Tajikistan, consisting of 118 athletes, will compete in 19 sports.
