Toji Somon International Film Festival Kicks Off in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, 17.10.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – The opening ceremony of the Toji Somon First International Film Festival under the motto “History of the Development of Tajiks” was held on October 16 in Dushanbe.
The opening ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Matlubakhon Sattoriyon, Deputy Chairman of Dushanbe Dilbar Odilzoda, representatives of the Presidential Executive Office, foreign guests, leadership and representatives of the Tojikfilm State Institution, other ministries and departments of the country.
Guests from Russia, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Azerbaijan, China, France, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan and other countries take part in the film festival.
A film selection commission was created in the Tojikfilm. During the month, submitted films from Russia, Iran, Pakistan, India, Hungary, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Canada, Turkiye, China, Belarus, Moldova, France and Tajikistan were screened for the film festival competitions.
Thus, out of 200 submitted applications, 70 films were studied and watched, 18 full-length films and 8 short films were found worthy of participation.
An international jury was convened to evaluate and determine the winners.
The jury for feature films included 5 people, the jury for short films included 4 people.
The festival will last until October 19.
