Tajik Weightlifters Win 4 Medals at the IX World Strength Sports Championships in Moscow

DUSHANBE, 19.12.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – Weightlifters of Tajikistan took part in the IX World Strength Sports Championship, which took place from December 16 through December 17 in Moscow, as a result of which they won 4 medals, including 3 gold and 1 silver.
Tajik athlete Davlatmand Odinaev took first place in the 110 kg weight category. The total weight lifted in the powerlifting event (squat, bench press and deadlift) was 755 kg.
Farrukh Shakirov in the 100 kg weight category ranked first in the bench press with a weight of 195 kg. In the triathlon in powerlifting, Oybek Berdymurotov won gold medal in the 67 kg weight category and Firuz Zaripov took second place in the 100 kg weight category.
Athletes from 29 countries and 82 regions of Russia took part in world-class competitions. The event included the disciplines of powerlifting, bench press, military press, folk press, Russian bench press, deadlift, strict biceps curl, arm lifting, street lifting and hip thrust (lifting the barbell on the hips) according to WRPF/WEPF/WAF/WSF versions with PRO and Elite titles inclusive.
