EU to focus its efforts on attracting investment in Tajikistan’s transport infrastructure

DUSHANBE, 04.10.2024 /NIAT Khovar/. Minister of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim met with Senior Advisor — Head of Cooperation Sector of the European Union Office in Dushanbe Isabel Uriz Hernandez on October 3.
The sides discussed issues of cooperation in the field of international transportation between Tajikistan and the European Union, the use and expansion of the Trans-Caspian international transport corridor, as well as the connection of road networks of Central Asian countries with the European road network.
The sides also paid special attention to the study of the European Union on the process of promotion of the EU “Global Gateway” strategy for Central Asia on the search and identification of international transport corridors.
The representative of the EU office noted that in the short term, the European Union will focus its efforts on attracting investments in infrastructure, in particular, on the development of single-station checkpoints and a joint logistics center near the checkpoint “Fotehobod” located in Mastchoh district of Sughd region, as well as on the implementation of an integrated system of border management and coordination of digital networks of the Republic of Tajikistan.
