Treaty on allied relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan discussed in Parliament

DUSHANBE, 30.01.2025 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Yesterday under the leadership of Chairman of Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Mahmadtoir Zokirzoda the sixth session of Majlisi Namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan of the sixth convocation was held, during which the Treaty on allied relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan was discussed, reports Khovar citing press-office of the Majlisi Namoyandagon.
The Treaty on Allied Relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan was signed on April 18, 2024 in Dushanbe during the state visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Tajikistan and will enter into force after ratification and exchange of assurances.
The Treaty has been prepared on the basis of the Agreement on Eternal Friendship between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan (Dushanbe, June 15, 2000) and the Agreement on Strategic Partnership between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan (Tashkent, August 17, 2018).
The Treaty is expedient from the point of view of foreign policy and corresponds to the Foreign Policy Concept of the Republic of Tajikistan, including taking into account the strategic partnership with the Republic of Uzbekistan with the priority of the foreign policy of the Republic of Tajikistan. Its content is not directed against the states of the region and does not have a negative impact on the international relations of the Republic of Tajikistan with foreign states.
