DUSHANBE, 15.09.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, in the Parliament of Tajikistan, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mayor of Dushanbe, Honorable Rustam Emomali, held a meeting with the Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu, followed by official talks with the participation of both delegations.

Before the meeting, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu signed the Book of Distinguished Guests of the Parliament of Tajikistan.

The discussions focused on a wide range of issues concerning Tajik-Kyrgyz bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest. Special emphasis was placed on strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation as an important dimension of bilateral partnership.

The sides highly praised the regular high-level dialogue, the results of mutual state visits of the leaders of the two countries, and the signing of new bilateral documents, which play a vital role in consolidating the legal framework of good-neighborly and friendly relations between the two states.

In this regard, particular attention was drawn to the historical significance of the signing of the Treaty between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic on the State Border, the Agreement between Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on the junction of the state borders of the three countries, and the Khujand Declaration of Eternal Friendship.

It was underlined the key role of the parliaments in expanding the legal basis of bilateral relations and implementing the agreements reached.

Given the renewed development of historical traditions of friendship, good-neighborliness and mutual respect, both sides expressed their shared interest in strengthening practical dialogue to ensure the harmonious development of relations between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The parties emphasized the need to boost trade and economic cooperation, taking into account the growth of bilateral trade and the untapped potential in this direction.

Discussions also covered simplifying customs procedures and product certification through a “Single Window” system, establishing a transport and logistics corridor between Dushanbe and Bishkek, organizing exhibitions and trade-investment forums, and advancing digital promotion of industrial and agricultural products of both countries.

Both sides considered it necessary to enhance cooperation in the field of investment, to create favorable conditions for joint projects in agricultural processing, light industry, production of mineral fertilizers and the energy sector.

It was expressed readiness to further develop sustainable ties in the humanitarian and cultural spheres, as well as in science and technology, including expanding cooperation in education, healthcare, culture, tourism, sports, and youth policy.

Other topics on the agenda included cooperation within international and regional organizations, and strengthening collaboration in the fields of security and the fight against terrorism, extremism, religious radicalism, drug trafficking, cybercrime, and other manifestations of transnational organized crime.
