A coordination meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly was held on the sidelines of the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, with Tajikistan represented by lawmaker Gairat Azizzoda, according to the Majlisi Namoyandagon.

Participants discussed key items on the agenda, including strengthening inter-parliamentary interaction, expanding regional cooperation in Asia and developing coordinated positions among member states at the international parliamentary level.

Speakers underscored the role of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly in promoting regional integration, building trust and fostering constructive dialogue. Tajikistan reaffirmed its support for enhanced multilateral cooperation and the effective use of parliamentary platforms to advance a shared regional agenda.

It was noted that the Parliament of Tajikistan, for the first time in 2026, assumed the chairmanship of the Assembly’s Committee on Social and Cultural Issues, a step seen as strengthening the country’s role in regional parliamentary cooperation and advancing sectoral initiatives.

The committee’s work focuses on social development, education, culture and the protection of humanitarian values, contributing to peace, stability and sustainable development in the region. Participants also expressed readiness to expand practical cooperation and exchange best practices among member states.
