The Republic of Tajikistan has officially joined the Advisory Centre on WTO Law, marking a step toward strengthening its legal capacity in the global trading system, Khovar reported, citing embassy in Switzerland.

A protocol on accession was signed by Tajikistan’s ambassador to Switzerland and permanent representative to the U.N. in Geneva, Sharaf Sheralizoda, and ACWL Executive Director Niall Meagher.

Membership in the center will allow Tajikistan to access professional legal assistance under the rules and procedures of the World Trade Organization. The support includes help with trade dispute settlement, development of legal positions and training to enhance the expertise of national specialists.

Tajikistan is the second country in Central Asia to join the organization.

The ACWL, established in 2001, provides legal advice and capacity-building services to developing and least-developed countries on WTO law.
