Tajikistan will conduct a nationwide population and housing census from Oct. 1 to Oct. 31, 2030, under a decree issued by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The census is being organized in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On the Population Census” and aims to provide reliable data on the country’s population size, distribution, demographic composition and living conditions.
The census results will serve as a key source of information for developing state forecasts, concepts, strategies and programs related to the country’s socio-economic development, as well as for analyzing demographic trends.
Population censuses are conducted in countries around the world at least once every 10 years, often as part of the United Nations World Population and Housing Census Programme.
The census will collect information on the population’s size, educational attainment, employment status and housing conditions, providing a comprehensive picture of the country’s socio-demographic situation.
Authorities said the findings will play an important role in shaping public policy, allocating budget resources, improving living standards and supporting the country’s long-term development goals.
The Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan has been tasked with preparing and conducting the census, processing the collected data and publishing the final results.
Funding for census-related activities will be provided through the state budget for 2026–2033, along with other available sources.
Government ministries, agencies and local executive authorities have been instructed to provide full support to statistical bodies to ensure the timely and effective implementation of the census.
