Rome to Host International Exhibition Showcasing Tajikistan’s Ancient Heritage

The State Institution «National Museum» of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan will open the international exhibition «Tajikistan – Country of Rare Monuments» at the Museum of Roman Civilization in Rome on Oct. 20, 2026, marking the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s independence.

The exhibition will showcase rare masterpieces of Tajikistan’s historical and cultural heritage from some of the country’s most significant archaeological and architectural sites, including Takhti-Sangin, ancient Panjakent, the Buddhist monastery of Ajinateppa and other historic locations.

Artifacts on display span a period from the sixth century to the 20th century, illustrating key stages in the formation and development of Tajik civilization through centuries of political, cultural and artistic evolution.

Organizers said the exhibition is intended to promote Tajikistan’s ancient history, rich cultural legacy and civilizational achievements to an international audience while strengthening cultural ties between Tajikistan and Italy. It also aims to raise global awareness of the country’s unique archaeological and historical heritage.

The exhibition will offer visitors, scholars and history enthusiasts a rare opportunity to view significant examples of Tajikistan’s material culture, highlighting the country’s millennia-old civilization and its contribution to the cultural heritage of Central Asia.
