Poland beats Ukraine to reach Euro 2016 playoff
Dushanbe, 22.06.2016. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Poland’s national football team has defeated Ukraine 1-0 in a group stage match of the 2016 UEFA Euro Cup to reach, for the first time in history, the playoff of the European tournament.
According to TASS, the Group C match was held at Marseille’s Velodrome stadium.
Jakub B•aszczykowski scored in the 54th minute.
The Polish team collected seven points and took the second place in Group C. The Poles will play Switzerland, the second in Group A, in the last 16. The match will be held June 25 in Saint-tienne.
Ukraine was the first of the participants of the European tournament to lose chances to qualify from the group as a result of defeat it suffered from Northern Ireland (0-2); Ukraine took the fourth place in the group with zero points.
The playoff of the Euro Cup kicks off June 25.
The 2016 UEFA Euro Cup is held in France between June 10 and July 10 with matches played in 10 different locations, namely in Bordeaux, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris, Saint-Denis, Saint-Etienne and Toulouse.
