Rustam Emomali Receives Russian Ambassador Igor Lyakin-Frolov

DUSHANBE, 17.03.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the National Assembly’s Speaker Rustam Emomali received the Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan Igor Lyakin-Frolov at his request.
Rustam Emomali expressed the readiness of the Tajik side to determine the main priorities for the development of bilateral relations and cooperation with Russia, which is an important strategic partner of the republic.
The parties discussed the state and prospects of bilateral relations, including in the field of inter-parliamentary relations, and also considered the role of parliamentary diplomacy as a key element of interstate cooperation at the present stage.
The officials emphasized the importance of cooperation within the framework of unique and effective multilateral agreements, primarily the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA), as well as their contribution to the development of the legal environment.
Rustam Emomali also noted that strengthening cooperation within CSTO PA is an important direction of Tajikistan’s presidency in this organization.
According to the decision of the CSTO PA Council, its visiting session will be held on March 31 in Dushanbe.
