DUSHANBE, 28.04.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The 77th Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific on Better Than Before and Regional Cooperation in Asia and the Pacific was held online form on April 26 through April 27.
On April 26, President Emomali Rahmon delivered a speech at the opening of the session. Given the current threats and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is still ongoing in many countries, he called the event very important and timely.
Yesterday, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda spoke about the measures taken to reduce the negative impact of COVID-19 on the economic and social spheres, and eliminate its consequences.
Abdurahmonzoda named a number of significant measures, as a result of which GDP in 2020 reached 82.5 billion somoni, and real growth was 4.5 percent.
He also noted that in order to improve the economic climate and trading system, eliminate the negative consequences of COVID-19, it is necessary to strengthen regional cooperation.
