Tajikistan and China Discuss Implementation of Joint Projects in Khatlon

DUSHANBE, 30.08.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – As part of the Kulob-2022 International Economic Forum, the Chairman of the Khatlon region Kurbon Hakimzoda met with Chinese Ambassador to Tajikistan Ji Shumin.
The meeting focused on the process of implementing joint projects in the Khatlon region and the prospects for trade and cultural cooperation.
Hakimzoda said that with the attraction of Chinese investments, two cement production enterprises are operating in the Yovon district of Khatlon — Xuaksin Gayur Cement and Jung-Tai Mohir Cement with a production capacity of 1.2 million tons. “Also, in cooperation with Chinese investors, the Lolazor power transmission line was put into operation, which is important for the transit of electricity from Tajikistan to other countries,” he noted.
Chinese companies have also built production and industrial enterprises in the Dangara free economic zone and in the Dangara district.
Today, Chinese agricultural companies in collaboration with Khatlon specialists are fruitfully working in the Yovon, Dangara, Kushoniyon, Jaloliddin Balkhi, and Dusti districts and are contributing to the food security of the region.
As a result of the expansion of ties, the volume of exchange of goods and products increases from year to year. Over 34.2% of foreign investment in the Khatlon region comes from China.
Shumin appreciated the high level of organization of the forum in Kulob and considered it a favorable platform for transforming the experience of entrepreneurs, presenting the opportunities of the Khatlon region.
The Chinese Ambassador spoke about the process of implementing joint projects and added that his country is interested not only in expanding traditional relations, but also in discussing new topics of cooperation in the field of the digital economy, modern production technologies, organizing internships for specialists from industrial enterprises and the mining industry.
Hakimzoda and Shumin also exchanged views on issues related to the development of cooperation in the field of agriculture, including horticulture, the creation of a practical center, advanced training of agricultural workers and the establishment of mutually beneficial relations between the executive authorities of the Khatlon region and the provinces of China.
