Agreements on Improving the Quality of Educational and Social Conditions Signed in Dushanbe

DUSHANBE, 04.07.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – On June 30, the Ministry of Finance hosted a ceremony to sign a funding agreement (project Educational environment — the basis of quality education) between Tajikistan and the International Development Association.
The main goal of the project is to improve the quality of teaching conditions and the learning environment in selected general education schools.
The total cost of the project is 38.1 million special lending rights, equal to $50.0 million, which is entirely grant funds.
The project starts in 2023 and is expected to be completed in 2029.
Along with this, a financing agreement (project for the modernization of social protection and economic integration) was signed between Tajikistan and the International Development Association and a grant agreement (project for the modernization of social protection and economic integration) between Tajikistan and the International Development Association (multi-donor trust fund of the Global Financing Facility for Women, Children and Teenagers).
The goal of the project is to support the grantee to protect poor and vulnerable families from shocks, promote economic inclusion, and improve social safety nets.
The total cost of the project is $37.5 million, of which $35.0 million comes from an International Development Association grant and $2.5 million from a multi-donor trust fund grant from the Global Financing Facility for Women, Children and Adolescents.
The project starts in 2023 and is scheduled for completion in 2027.
