Somon Mahmadbekov Wins a Bronze Medal at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games

DUSHANBE, 30.07.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – Today at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games in judo, Tajik judoka Somon Mahmadbekov in the -81 kg weight category won a bronze medal.
In the fight for the bronze medal, he defeated Italian judoka Antonio Esposito.
This is the first medal of the Tajik Olympic team at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games.
With the bronze medal, Mahmadbekov was able to win an Olympic medal in judo for Tajikistan after 16 years. Earlier, in 2008, at the Beijing 2008 Summer Olympic Games, another Tajik wrestler, Rasul Bokiev, won a bronze medal.
