DUSHANBE, 10.02.2025 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The CIS observer mission has started monitoring the preparation and conduct of parliamentary elections in Tajikistan, reports Khovar citing the CIS Observer Mission.
On February 8, Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Nurlan Seitimov met with Chairman of the Central Commission on Elections and Referendums of the Republic of Tajikistan Bakhtiyor Khudoyorzoda as part of the opening of the Mission. The interlocutors discussed the progress of the election campaign and the organization of the Mission’s activities.
Mr. Nurlan Seitimov noted that this is the 131st Mission of CIS observers at elections and referendums in the CIS member states and the ninth in the Republic of Tajikistan. This shows that there is a great experience of joint work and inspires confidence in constructive cooperation during the ongoing election campaign.
The CIS Deputy Secretary General said that the Mission builds its work on the principles of political neutrality, non-interference in the electoral process and in the internal affairs of the state. Its assessments are based solely on its own observation, official information and factual material provided by the electoral bodies and authorized State structures.
In total, the Mission will employ about 120 people, 10 of whom will carry out observation on a long-term basis. “The most important components of the observation process will be personal meetings with the leadership of political parties, candidates for deputy, official representatives of state bodies”, — said Nurlan Seitimov.
The Mission Headquarters will coordinate this work. It has started its work and now carries out the necessary activities related to the organization of observation: prepares documents for accreditation of observers, organizes the collection, processing and analysis of materials on the electoral process.
In turn, Bakhtiyor Khudoyorzoda told the CIS observers about the measures taken by the election authorities of the Republic of Tajikistan to prepare for the elections. He dwelt in detail on the nomination and registration of candidates for deputies, the ongoing work on the training of members of election commissions, the work on the clarification of voter lists.
The Chairman of the Central Commission on Elections and Referenda noted that the activities of the CCER and lower-level election commissions will be transparent, and the members of the commissions are open for cooperation with international observers.
