OPEC Fund to Continue Supporting Key Development Projects in Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 22.05.2025 (NIAT Khovar) – On May 20, during the Annual Meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group held from May 19 to 22 in Algiers, a delegation of Tajikistan, led by Zavqi Zavqizoda, Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Tajikistan’s Governor to the Islamic Development Bank, met with Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, Director-General of the OPEC Fund for International Development.
The meeting focused on reviewing the progress of priority development projects and ongoing initiatives in key sectors of Tajikistan’s national economy, including infrastructure, green energy, social development, and climate resilience.
Minister Zavqizoda emphasized the OPEC Fund’s significant contribution to Tajikistan’s priority development programs and advocated for the expansion of financial support across various socio-economic sectors.
Dr. Alkhalifa reaffirmed the OPEC Fund’s commitment to continue financing strategic development projects in Tajikistan.
It is noteworthy that since the start of cooperation, the OPEC Fund has invested approximately $200 million in various sectors of Tajikistan’s economy, including road construction, energy, healthcare, and education.
