Tajik schoolchildren won 11 honors at the 4th Al-Khwarizmi International Olympiad in Mathematics and Informatics, the Ministry of Education and Science said, according to NIAT Khovar.
The Olympiad was held June 1–7 in Tashkent, with students from 10 countries taking part in the competition.
Tajikistan was represented by 28 students from general education institutions, who won one gold medal, two silver and eight bronze medals.
Officials said the results reflect the country’s growing emphasis on science, technology, engineering and mathematics education, particularly in physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics.
The initiative is part of a long-term program declared by President Emomali Rahmon designating 2020–2040 as the “Twenty Years of Study and Development of Natural, Exact and Mathematical Sciences in Science and Education.”
Authorities said increased participation in international Olympiads reflects rising academic performance among Tajik students and contributes to the country’s international scientific standing.
