Tajikistan and UK Explore Closer Cooperation in Financial Sector Oversight

First Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Khokim Kholikzoda met with the United Kingdom’s Regional Sanctions Attaché, Douglas Clarke, in Dushanbe to discuss cooperation in the financial sector and the implementation of international standards, according to the National Bank of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, it was noted that Tajikistan is committed to expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with international partners and implementing measures aimed at ensuring transparency, stability and compliance with international standards in the financial system.
The two sides exchanged views on the current state of bilateral cooperation and discussed ways to strengthen coordination in the financial sector. Talks focused on developments in Tajikistan’s banking system, the effective implementation of international requirements and standards, and efforts to enhance oversight and risk management mechanisms.
Clarke praised Tajikistan’s engagement with international partners in strengthening coordination mechanisms and advancing cooperation in the financial sphere, according to the National Bank.
The chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan outlined measures being taken to maintain the stability of the banking sector, improve supervisory practices, strengthen risk management and ensure compliance with international requirements by financial and credit institutions.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed their readiness to continue constructive dialogue and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
