Barki Tojik Generates Nearly 8.9 Billion kWh of Electricity in First Half of 2026

DUSHANBE, 15.07.2026 (NIAT Khovar) – Hydropower plants and combined heat and power facilities operated by the Open Joint Stock Company “Barki Tojik” generated a total of 8.89 billion kWh of electricity in the first half of 2026, down by 2.7 million kWh compared to the same period last year, the company’s Director General Mahmadumar Asozoda said at a press conference on July 13.
According to the company’s data, hydropower plants accounted for 7.9267 billion kWh of electricity generation, while combined heat and power facilities produced 964 million kWh during the reporting period.
Electricity losses at the hydropower plants and combined heat and power facilities of “Barki Tojik” amounted to 28.4 million kWh, or 0.32 percent of total electricity generated. This figure represents a decrease of 0.07 percentage points compared to the same period in 2025.
Heat energy production during the first six months of 2026 reached 751 thousand Gcal, which is 61.5 thousand Gcal lower than in the corresponding period of the previous year.
To ensure a stable electricity supply, “Barki Tojik” purchased 2.7528 billion kWh of electricity from other independent domestic producers and foreign sources during the first half of 2026. The volume of purchased electricity decreased by 258.7 million kWh compared to the same period of 2025.
The main suppliers included the Sangtuda-1 Hydropower Plant, which provided 1.4768 billion kWh, the Sangtuda-2 Hydropower Plant with 474.2 million kWh, and the Rogun Hydropower Plant with 667.2 million kWh.
The company noted that during the reporting period, “Barki Tojik” continued implementing the decisions of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the directives outlined in the President’s Address to the Majlisi Oli on key areas of the country’s domestic and foreign policy.
The company’s efforts have focused on improving the efficiency of production capacities and ensuring the rational use of Tajikistan’s water and energy resources.
