DUSHANBE, 12.07.2026 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan will establish its first fully integrated ferrous metallurgy complex as part of a major industrial development project being implemented by the Joint-Stock Company «Tajik Metallurgical Complex», President Emomali Rahmon announced on July 9 during a meeting with leaders and public representatives of Sughd Province and workers of the country’s industrial sector in Bobojon Ghafurov District.
According to the President, seven industrial enterprises will be built as a unified production system during the 2025–2029 period, forming the foundation of the country’s first domestic ferrous metallurgy cluster.
The first phase of the project предусматривает the production of iron concentrate and iron pellets, creating the basis for further processing and value-added manufacturing.
With the launch of the second phase, the complex is expected to begin producing pig iron, refined iron products, ferroalloys and reinforcing steel bars, enabling Tajikistan for the first time to establish a complete ferrous metallurgy production chain — from ore extraction to finished metallurgical products.
Emomali Rahmon stated that project managers have been instructed to begin construction work on the second phase immediately in order to accelerate implementation.
According to the President, this approach could allow the project to achieve its targets one year ahead of schedule and begin domestic production of reinforcing steel to meet demand in the local market.
The Head of State expressed satisfaction with the pace of construction and voiced confidence that the project team would successfully fulfill its tasks and that the complex would deliver its first finished products to the domestic market by September 2028.
