DUSHANBE, 10.07.2026 (NIAT Khovar) – Electricity production in Tajikistan amounted to 11.6564 billion kWh during the first six months of this year, which is 156.6 million kWh, or 1.3 percent, lower compared to the same period in 2025. Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Republic of Tajikistan Daler Juma stated this on July 10 during a press conference.
The Minister attributed the decline in electricity generation compared to the same period last year to reduced water inflow into the reservoir of the Nurek Hydropower Plant and the temporary suspension of operations at the Rogun Hydropower Plant due to the replacement of temporary working turbine units with permanent ones.
It was reported that during this period, electricity generation was carried out by the country’s power-producing companies, including the open joint-stock company “Barki Tojik”, which generated 8.8876 billion kWh, the open joint-stock company “Sangtuda-1 Hydropower Plant” — 1.4855 billion kWh, the Sangtuda-2 Hydropower Plant — 479.4 million kWh, the open joint-stock company “Pamir Energy” — 121.9 million kWh, the open joint-stock company “Rogun Hydropower Plant” — 675 million kWh, and small hydropower plants across the country — 6.2 million kWh.
During the first half of 2026, Tajikistan produced 750.9 thousand Gcal of thermal energy, which is 61.5 thousand Gcal, or 7.6 percent, lower compared to the same period of 2025.
