DUSHANBE, July 22, 2026 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan’s real GDP growth rate amounted to 8.2% in the first six months of 2026, with the total volume of GDP reaching 81.7 billion somoni, which is 10.8 billion somoni higher compared with the same period of 2025, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda said at a press conference on July 20.
He noted that economic growth was mainly driven by increases in industrial production by 14.1%, agricultural output by 7.2%, paid services by 10.6%, investment in fixed capital by 18.4%, trade turnover by 26.1%, freight transportation by 14.7%, and passenger transportation by 8%.
The Minister also reported that inflation during the reporting period stood at 2.4%, an increase of 0.6 percentage points compared with the same period last year. The rise was mainly due to higher prices for food products by 2.6%, non-food goods by 1.7%, and paid services by 3.8%.
He emphasized that concrete measures continued to be implemented to achieve the country’s fourth national goal — accelerated industrialization. These measures included increasing production volumes, ensuring the domestic market with competitive locally produced goods, launching new production capacities, effectively utilizing industrial and export potential, and creating new jobs.
Despite the impact of global and regional challenges, Tajikistan maintained positive economic growth during the first half of 2026.
