Tajikistan’s Sughd region and China’s Shaanxi province hold business forum in Xi’an

DUSHANBE, July 16, 2026 (NIAT Khovar) — A business and economic forum bringing together representatives of the business communities of Tajikistan’s Sughd region and China’s Shaanxi province was held in Xi’an, focusing on expanding trade and investment cooperation between the two regions.
The forum aimed to present the economic potential of both regions and create a platform for establishing new partnerships between companies and entrepreneurs.
Shaanxi Vice Governor Li Juhong said the meeting represented an important step toward further developing business and economic ties, noting the province’s readiness to expand cooperation with Tajikistan, including Sughd region.
Sughd Governor Rajab Ahmadzoda highlighted the importance of strengthening direct contacts between business communities of the two countries and expressed satisfaction with the growing cooperation between Sughd and various regions of China.
According to the officials, trade turnover between Sughd region and China exceeded $1 billion in 2025, while in the first six months of 2026 it reached $775 million.
Sughd region currently maintains economic and trade relations with 65 countries and international financial institutions. The Khujand Free Economic Zone provides favorable conditions for investors and partners interested in establishing joint ventures and developing business activities.
During the forum, representatives of the two sides discussed opportunities for cooperation, investment projects and prospects for expanding trade and economic ties.
