DUSHANBE, 10.08.2017 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Famous Tajik hammer thrower, Rio Olympic champion, Dilshod Nazarov, having thrown hammer at a distance of 75.54 meters, advanced to the finals of the London World Athletics Championships — 2017.

According to the National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan, 32 sportsmen, divided into two groups, attended the qualifying round of hammer throwing. In group “A”, Dilshod Nazarov took the 5th place with the result of 75.54 meters, and, according to the results of the two groups, the Tajik athlete, ranking sixth spot, became one of the 12 hammer throwers who advanced to the final stage of the World Championships.

The first three places in the qualifying round were taken by Polish athletes — Wojciech Nowicki (76.85), Pavle Fajeuc (76.82) and the French hammer thrower Bigot Quentin (76.11).

We will recall that  Dilshod Nazarov won the gold medal of the Bhubaneswar Asian Athletics Championships in July of this year, having thrown hammer at a distance of 76.69 meters.

The London World Athletics Championships — 2017, which will last until August 13, is attended by more than two thousand athletes from 200 countries.

In the team medal standings the first place is ranked by the US team (15 medals), the second — Kenya (7 medals), and the third — South Africa (4 medals).
