Tajik athlete Somon Mahmadbekov won a gold medal at the Hong Kong Asian Judo Cup
DUSHANBE, 03.12.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Young Tajik athletes Somon Mahmadbekov and Khayomiddin Jabborov won 2 medals at traditional Asian Judo Cup competitions in Hong Kong.
According to the Judo Federation of Tajikistan, both Tajik athletes took part in the weight category — 73 kg.
In the second round, Somon defeated the Chinese athlete Ershaogetu Amu, in the quarter-finals took over the Filipino athlete Keisei Nakano, thereby making his way to the semi-finals. Tajik athlete in the semifinals defeated the Mongolian athlete Choijilsuren Ganbold. In the final, he defeated the Japanese athlete Daichi Tanaka and won a gold medal.
Khayomiddin won over the athletes from Indonesia Sebtian Yangsyah, Hong Kong — Chun Sing Chui, Mongolia — Hadbaatar Narankhuu, but lost in the semifinal to the Japanese athlete Daichi Tanaka. Then in a duel for the third place, he won the Filipino athlete Keisei Nakano, winning a bronze medal.
We will recall that 220 athletes (128 men and 92 women) from 29 countries attended the competition.
