First Deputy Economic Minister Met With the Executive Director of the International Trade Centre
DUSHANBE, 23.05.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The delegation of Tajikistan headed by the First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zavqi Zavqizoda met with the Executive Director of the International Trade Centre (ITC) Arancha Gozalez on Tuesday in Geneva, Switzerland.
During the meeting, the parties discussed bilateral and multilateral cooperation. Zavqizoda expressed gratitude to the ITC for the mutually beneficial cooperation and introduced the achievements of Tajikistan within the implementation of the strategic goals and priorities, including Tajikistan’s participation in the World Trade Organization, export development, acceleration of the diversification of the export oriented products and trade facilitation, reported the Press Centre of the Tajik Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
It was noted that as a result of the measures taken, foreign trade turnover increased from 20% in 2015 to 25.3% in 2018, and the number of commercial partners raised from 90 to 110 countries. Export diversification increased from 150 to approximately 480 products.
ITC has voiced its appreciation regarding Tajikistan’s accomplishments in trade facilitation and active participation in the WTO and declared its readiness to increase assistance and technical support for furthering Tajikistan’s economic development.
The delegation also included the First Deputy Head of the Customs Service in the city of Tursunzoda Azim Haydar and the Chief Specialist of the Planning and Reform Department of the Executive Office of the President of Tajikistan Umed Mirzoev.
