Committee for Environmental Protection: Number of Rare Animals Is Increasing
DUSHANBE, 15.07.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The livestock of the Pamir mountain sheep (argali) has increased, numbering 9,592. This was said by the leadership of the Committee for Environmental Protection at a press conference yesterday.
According to the committee, the stock of screw-horned goats has increased to 711, Bukhara deer to 408, and snow leopard to 156.
The quota for shooting wild animals this year is 140.
Of these, 12 quotas are for screw-goats, 1 for Bukhara sheep, 105 for Marco Polo sheep, and 12 for brown bears.
The cost of hunting rare animals can range from 10,000 somoni to 300,000 somoni, depending on the particular animal.
Hunting a Marco Polo sheep costs 55,000 somoni, a screw-horned goat 300,000 somoni, Bukhara mountain sheep 26,400 somoni, and a brown bear 10,000 somoni.
