DUSHANBE, 17.12.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – For the first nine months this year, 16, 642 vehicles valued at $87.5 million were imported to Tajikistan, the Customs Service reports.
Compared to last year, this is a decrease of $33 million, or 1,871 cars.
Light vehicles are usually imported from non-CIS countries, such as from the Baltic States, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, the USA, and Korea. Due to the fact that Toyota and Hyundai are also produced in Russia, these brands are mostly imported from there. This year more cars were imported from Germany and Korea.
According to the Customs Service, after the introduction of amendments to Article 345 of the Customs Code and to Article 169 of the Tax Code in 2018 which allowed an exemption of 50% of customs payments for the import of new vehicles with a mileage of 10,000 kilometers, their import has significantly increased.
