Tajikistan Launches Election Campaign to Become a Non-Permanent Member of the UN Security Council

DUSHANBE, 16.02.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan has launched an election campaign to change its status to that of a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2028-2029. This information was provided by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin at a press conference yesterday.
Muhriddin noted that in September 2020, during the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, which was held via videoconference, President Emomali Rahmon announced Tajikistan’s decision to nominate its candidacy for the non-permanent member status of the UN Security Council for 2028- 2029 years.
