Minister of Finance Holds Online Meeting with WB Vice President for Europe and Central Asia

DUSHANBE, 28.04.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – A wide range of issues relating to bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the World Bank (WB) was discussed yesterday during an online meeting by the Minister of Finance Faiziddin Kahhorzoda and WB Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde.
Kahhorzoda noted that over 28 years of partnership the WB has provided substantial support to Tajikistan in the implementation of joint investment projects.
“In 2020, cooperation between Tajikistan and the WB was further strengthened by allocating funding for projects aimed at countering the COVID-19 pandemic. The WB assistance helped Tajikistan to normalize the epidemiological situation and curb the spread of the pandemic,” said he.
He also emphasized that the tax reform in Tajikistan will create a more stable atmosphere for future investors and local entrepreneurs, and will have a positive impact on attracting foreign investment.
WB mission is also expected to identify the potential of the Rogun hydroelectric power plant, which will help attract investment and the rapid implementation of this strategically important project, which is of a regional nature, and will contribute not only to the development of Tajikistan, but also the countries of Central Asia.
