For the First Time in the History of Tajik Sports Athlete Reaches Group Stage of the World Athletics Championship

DUSHANBE, 19.07.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajik athlete Ildar Akhmadiyev at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, US successfully qualified with a score of 10:66. But in the group stage, he showed a result of 10:85 and could not reach the final round.
Meanwhile, the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Tajikistan highly appreciated the result of the athlete and stated that the goal was achieved. According to NOC, for the first time in history, a Tajik runner in the 100-meter race entered the group stage of the World Championships.
“This is undoubtedly considered a success for Tajik athletics,” according to NOC.
Earlier, Akhmadiyev set the Tajik 100m record with a score of 10:37.
During the World Championships, a meeting of the World Athletics Council was also held, in which the head of the Tajik Athletics Federation Olympic champion Dilshod Nazarov also took part.
The next World Athletics Championships will be held in Budapest (Hungary) in 2023 and in Tokyo (Japan) in 2025.
