DUSHANBE, 10.02.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – With the receipt of the Tajik national wrestling (gushtingiri) of international status, Tajikistan will hold four tournaments of international level this year. This was reported today at a press conference by the Chairman of the Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports Abdullo Rahmonzoda.

He added that these are international competitions for the Asian Wrestling Cup, the Asian Championship, the World Cup and the World Championship.

It was stated that Tajikistan intends to open a representative office of the Gushtingiri Wrestling Federation in 60 countries over the next 5 years. Currently, such a representative office has been established in Russia, India and Iran.

“In 2022, the Committee held 4,000 wrestling competitions according to the method from village to village. According to the plan, this year this number will be increased to more than 5,000,” said the Chairman of the Committee.
