Dushanbe Will Host an International Conference on the Occasion of the 30th Anniversary of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea

DUSHANBE, 01.05.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – From June 5 through June 7, Dushanbe will host the international conference entitled “Central Asia: on the way to a sustainable future through a strong regional institution.”
The conference will be dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea.
Over the 30 years of its activity, the Fund has been able to provide a regional platform for dialogue and cooperation in solving regional problems related to water and the environment. It contributes to the development of qualitatively new interstate relations in the region by strengthening regional cooperation and conflict-free resolution of complex water management issues.
The conference is designed to highlight the role of the Fund as a unique platform for water and environmental cooperation in Central Asia, reflect on past achievements, provide insight into current areas of cooperation and develop a program for the future vision.
The conference is organized by the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea with the support of the Government of Tajikistan in collaboration with development partners.
The conference is expected to be attended by high-ranking officials, politicians, experts, scientists and enthusiasts from the founding states of the Fund and other regions, representing government agencies, international organizations, financial institutions, academia, civil society and other stakeholders. Particular attention will be given to the participation of youth, women, the private sector and academia.
It is also planned to hold a meeting of the Board of the Fund and the fourth meeting of the Coordination Platform of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea with international development partners.
It should be noted that the Fund was established by Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
